The Toronto FIR covers the south eastern province of Ontario. It is Canada's busiest FIR thanks to Toronto - Pearson airport. It also handles a sizeable amount of traffic en-route from Europe to the US midwest.
It shares it's boundaries with Toronto to the east, Cleveland and Boston to the south and Winnipeg to the west.
The airspace within the FIR is varied. The southern region is very intense with the congestion of the greater Toronto area, and more relaxed to the north with most of the airspace below FL180 uncontrolled.
Service within the Toronto FIR is provided in English only.
In the menu on the left you will find information and procedures for controlling or flying within the FIR. If you require further information please contact our division staff.
We hope you enjoy your visit to the Toronto FIR.
