On December 13th 2014 it's record day again on IVAO. Make sure to join us for the IVAO Crowded Skies 2014 event. The previous edition of Crowded Skies had more than 2,303 simultaneous connections at a point of time and over 9,600 flights during the entire event, which is a unique record.

The Software Department and Public Relations Department are pleased to announce the latest release of X-IvAp the X-Plane plugin for the IVAO network. This version has been updated to support 64 bit versions of MacOS and Linux due to X-Plane being native 64 bit on these platforms. 32 bit support has been removed for these two systems but both 32 bit and 64 bit support remains for Windows.

Over the last few weeks the network team at IVAO have been busy upgrading the servers, hopefully you will have noticed the improvements in stability. However, we need your help!

We can only really test the effectiveness of the upgrades by placing the network under high load and therefore we would like to invite you to the “IVAO Stress Test” event on May 17th, 2013 from 17:00 to 20:00 UTC.

We would like to see if we can sustain 2,500 simultaneous connections with the peak hour expected to be 19:00 UTC.

This is your opportunity to not only fly with thousands of other pilots and experience great ATC coverage, but also make a positive contribution to helping IVAO improve the network for all our members.

our Network and Logistics team will be on standby to monitor situation and attend to any malfunctions.

The Flight operations coordinator is responsible for all procedures directly concerning pilots. The FOC is responsible for:

- Maintaining the preferred routes database of the division.
- Maintaining the charts database of the division.
- Compiling operating guidelines for pilots.
- Setting pilot training/exam standards for the TC.

Due to the recent staff changes, IVAO Canada is looking for new staff members. We are looking for a Membership Assistant Coordinator and a Training Coordinator. Below you will find the description of these functions:

The Members Assistant coordinator is responsible for maintaining the membership database of the division, as well as "keeping in touch" with members on a regular basis. These tasks are done in cooperation with the Membership Coordinator. Duties of the MAC include:

• Sending a "welcome" message to all new IVAO Canada members.
• Maintaining the member’s database.
• Compiling a periodic newsletter.
• Doing external PR in coordination with the CA-DIR and IVAO-PRD to try and attract new members to the Canadian division.
• Validating/Assigning Divisional Tours/ATC Award.

The training co-ordinator is head of the division's training department. This department consists of the TC/TAC, and any Training advisors. The TC is responsible for:

• Supervising and delegating tasks to the Training Advisors (Instructors)
• Compiling training material for pilots and ATC using the standards set forth by the AOC/FOC.
• Conducting and marking exams.
• Organise regular training sessions. (The TC doesn't have to be present though)

   Regarding the ATC Bookings box...  Prior to the change that was just made, it would only show bookings for today and tomorrow.  This has been changed to two weeks.  The reason for this change was so that pilots flying in for events will know well in advance of ATC coverage.  In addition if the booking is for an event the text will appear in red.

We would like to inform you that we changed the Facility Ratings (FRA) for the following Canadian airports: CYUL, CYOW, CYQB, CYTO, CYVR and CYYZ. From now on you can staff Tower from the start (ATC Applicant) and Approach/Departure with an Advanced ATC Trainee rating. We hope this will motivate you to staff our airports.

Alexandre Omann a été promu Membership Coordinator et Andres Van Goozen a rejoint l’équipe en tant que Membership Assistant Coordinator.
